Court involved therapy
court involved coparent counseling
When families are involved in the family court system, Coparent Counseling is provided within a clearly defined court-informed therapeutic framework. My role as a court involved therapist is to support skill development, improve coparent functions, and reduce ongoing conflict while maintaining appropriate clinical and ethical boundaries.
Coparent Counseling is not evaluative in nature and does not include custody recommendations, opinions regarding parental fitness or determinations related to legal decision making authority. The focus of treatment is on improving communication, supporting child-centered decision making, and helping parents develop practical strategies to navigate shared parenting responsibilities more effectively.
In court involved cases, therapy is structured and goal oriented. Sessions emphasize:
Neutral facilitation of coparent communication
Development of effective conflict management strategies
Establishment of clear boundaries and expectations
Use of structured format to discuss parenting issues
Reduction of behaviors that escalate conflict and place children in the middle
I adhere to the ethical and professional standards required for Court Involved therapy, including maintaining neutrality, clarifying limits of confidentiality, and clearly defining the scope of treatment at the outset of services. When applicate, documentation may be provided in accordance with the legal and ethical guidelines, with transparency regarding the purpose and limitations of documentation.
I work collaboratively with Attorneys, Parent Coordinators, Custody Evaluators, and Therapists working with your family. A collaborative approach is critical when there are strained relationships after separation or divorce, or your child/children are resisting contact with one parent. court involved individual therapy
I provide court-involved individual therapy for adults navigating custody-related concerns, parent–child contact challenges, and the emotional complexities that often accompany family court involvement. This work is designed to support parents who are seeking stability, clarity, and emotional regulation during highly sensitive and high-stakes circumstances.
My approach is structured, clinically grounded, and mindful of the legal context. Therapy focuses on strengthening emotional insight, communication skills, co-parenting capacity, and the ability to show up consistently and appropriately for children, particularly when relationships are strained or contact has been disrupted.
When appropriate, I work collaboratively with other court-involved professionals, including attorneys, mediators, custody evaluators, parenting coordinators, and reunification providers. This coordinated, team-based approach allows for aligned goals, clear communication, and continuity of care, supporting the best possible outcomes for parents and children alike.
